5 tips to layer up this winter

Well Nigerians call it ‘hamartan’ but most part of the world calls the period of extreme coldness winter so,yes am going with the crowd kill me if you can.

When it comes to looking cool in the cold, I’ve found that some of the best style inspiration comes from my peers in the industry. As editors, we spend a lot of time outside, running from showroom appointment to showroom appointment, attending fashion shows, covering red carpet events, and more. As expected, even in the face of harsh weather, we don’t want to sacrifice style—and that’s where layering comes into play. Ahead, some of my favorite tricks that I’ve learned over the years.
Tip 1: Double Up on Your Jackets
Tip 2: Rock Suits Under an Overcoat
Tip 3: Put a Belt on It
Tip 4: Hoodies Are Your Friend
Tip 5: Up Your Socks or Tights Game

Tip 1: Double Up on Your Jackets

Wearing a small jacket under a heavy coat is an easy, but not necessarily obvious way to stay warm. Add texture and dimension to your look by mixing materials, like pairing a varsity jacket with a fuzzy coat.
Layering long jackets under short coats works too.
I’m particularly fond of layering jackets that range in texture and formality, like a casual denim jacket (my favorite) with a more polished overcoat. It’s all about mixing high and low.

Tip 2: Rock Suits Under an Overcoat

Wearing a suit under a coat may be a go-to look for guys, but on a woman it looks fresh. And it looks especially fresh when a turtleneck is tossed into the mix. Pick a set that suits your style then add your accouterments of choice for a warm but polished look.
Speaking of suits, don’t forget about sweat suits! For most of us, this is a weekend look, but they can be pretty cool. Again, it’s all about the mix. A casual sweat suit with a super luxe jacket is unexpectedly chic.
A casual, matching jacket and pants set, layered underneath a formal, floor-dusting coat is a great update to your wearable everyday outfits.

Tip 3: Put a Belt on It

If you’re worried about looking too bulky under all of your layers, throw on a belt over your coat to define your waist.
See? Chic and slimming.

Tip 4: Hoodies Are Your Friend

A hoodie also gets bonus points for it’s face-shielding abilities,Like most of the fashion world, I’m still very into a hoodie. It’s classic New York, looks cool, and the added layer keeps you warm.

Tip 5: Up Your Socks or Tights Game

Cold weather doesn’t mean you can’t wear your favorite shoes, it just means that you need to layer them with some socks or tights. Luckily for us, exposing your hose is a big trend that isn’t going away anytime soon
Did I say socks or tights? I meant socks and tights. Hey, it’s cold out there! LOL
