Bridge where he won a host of trophies
once he retires from playing.
The ex- Chelsea and Arsenal left back is currently plying his trade in the MLS with LA Galaxy and he wants to be reunited with the Blues where he won eight major honours. Ashley Cole won 8 major honours with Chelsea including the Champions League.
Cole left Arsenal for Chelsea in a controversial move in 2006 that saw William Gallas move the other way and won nothing.
The left-back stated in his book that he nearly crashed his car at the contract Arsenal offered him so he wanted to join the Blues where he won the Champions League six years later.
The news that Cole would prefer a role at Chelsea rather than Arsenal will come as no surprise to Gunners fans as the feeling between the defender and the supporters from North London is mutual.
The defender shocked Arsenal supporters when he left his boyhood club to join London rivals Chelsea in 2006. Cole was one of many big names at the club that decided it was time to jump ship when Arsenal lost Patrick Vieira to Juventus the year before whilst losing Dennis Bergkamp to retirement.
It is in these sorry years Arsenal really suffered as big name after big name strolled out of the exit door during a time when Chelsea were at their most dominant which further added venom to the abusive attacks aimed at Cole whenever he faced his former side.
Cole said of his hopes to return to the
Bridge: ”I hope I can go back to Chelsea and do something there, not so much coaching but scouting or something.”
“I enjoy scouting, watching the young lads come through. I have done a little for my agent, but I’d like to do something a bit more serious. I’d love to go back to work at Chelsea somewhere somehow.
“When you win the Champions League as I did with Chelsea, it is the ultimate. Just the feeling to know I have played in a team and won a trophy that a lot of teams would want to win. You play against all the big teams.
Ashley Cole had a brief spell in Italy with Roma before joining LA Galaxy
“Playing in and beating Bayern Munich will always stick in my brain. Even when I watch it now or I see clips of the penalties, I still get goosebumps.”
